My Philosophy of Counseling

I believe that the counseling ministry of Hickory Grove Baptist Church exists to carry out the Mission of the Church, "to know Christ and make Him known." The counseling ministry is here to help struggling and broken people to come to healing and good health spiritually, and emotionally, which I believe leads to better physical health. One way this is accomplished is through Biblical discipleship counseling. This is one-on-one Bible principle teaching, including inductive Bible study and intense therapy in the Scriptures.

Intercessory prayer in and on behalf of those coming for counseling is essential for the total spiritual well-being of each person. Those who come with needs in excess of our training will be referred to experts in that field. We will strive to evaluate and help those with issues stemming from sin, to habits that are dominating their lives.

Above all else in keeping our Biblical mandate from Matthew 28:20 to make disciples of all nations, each counselee will have an opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
